The sandblast begins at 2pm with DJ’s Enrico Meloni from Italy and Joe Gauthreaux from the USA dropping the beats on the largest stage and dancefloor and most colossal VIP deck this event has seen before. Kidd Madonny and his company, 3DX, are building the decor for the party and like last year, it will incorporate URGE Miami Festival’s yellow and white retro resort and cabana influenced theme. In the nearly 15 months since the pandemic shut down the country and altered daily life, nightlife as it was before the coronavirus has not been possible.
They shuttered Hydrate Nightclub on March 16, 2020. As of June 11 clubs in Chicago can again operate at full capacity. And, Hydrate is ready to bring back the beats as DJ Joe Gauthreaux (pronounced GO TROW) returns on Saturday — a first in over a year! Continue reading the ALL NEW INTERVIEW with Chicago GoPride https://chicago.gopride.com/news/article.cfm/articleid/I1539616! Dear Friends,
On June 7, a controversial new law goes into effect in the EU that will basically hold platforms (ie, SoundCloud, iTunes, etc) liable for uncleared copyrighted content on their platforms. As we have seen with the "cookie" notifications on every site because of EU regulation, I am sad to say that I think the era of the music podcast on any platform is about to be over. Til now, web hosts could "play dumb" until someone reports an infringement of content their algorithm missed. They still can in the US. But in the EU starting June 7, they can no longer do that. Apps or services where you listen to music will probably take immediate, rigorous action. I received a blanket letter today from one of my podcast hosts stating they will implement a "take down, stay down" process for any reports of copyright infringement. Basically, entire podcast channels you depend on could go away overnight. There will be no appeals. There will be no 3 strikes to the Artist. The web hosts butts are about to be on the line. SoundCloud and iTunes will do anything and everything to avoid a hit, I assure you. I'm writing this to urge you to download any episodes you love that host on one of these platforms today. Do not wait. My feelings are obvious how I feel about a podcast. I provide a track listing, and have never presented a track from start to finish as you would buy it on Beatport or iTunes. For me, it's a promotional tool for not only myself, but for the artists I feature. Same goes for any live set I decide to share. I provide you, the listener, a way to find out which artist and song (or combination of the songs in mashups) I'm playing. On the opposite end, I am a content creator and songwriter. My work is mixed in podcasts frequently. As long as another artist credits me and anyone else on the project, I give you full waiver of rights to use my music in any kind of promotional material for your art (ie, by a fellow DJ or producer using a song I own the copyright to in a podcast, mashup, etc). I think most of us creators & producers feel the same. Why the powers that be still in 2021 have not figured out a way to let DJs make mixes, pay artists we sample, and let you listen to a mixed set that is unique, new and creative is beyond me. But I will not get into a copyright discussion here. Please take controversial remarks on the matter to your own page. This post is to inform, not instigate. I'm writing this to anyone who listens to me, or your favorite DJ on SoundCloud, through iTunes, or any public outlet. Don't wait to download the mixes you love. That go to you count on for the last 20 minutes of your run? That go to for when you are pre-gaming? Find anyway you can to preserve it sooner than later. And fasten your headphones, it's going to be a bumpy ride! Love, Joe On April 22, 2001, I played an after-hours gig in DC for my The Cherry Fund debut that changed the trajectory of my career forever. To this day, it remains one of my favorite parties I've ever played. It was the first time anyone in the Northeast heard my sound, or my name. The party was so lit that I can't find a single picture from its existence. All I have is the recording from the night. To celebrate the occasion, I've made part 4, the most timeless part of the set, available to everyone to listen to on Patreon for FREE!
Thank you so much to everyone at CHERRY, and the one & only Moody Mustafa who has been the main reason I play during Cherry Weekend in DC for the latter part of the last twenty years, as we celebrate his birthday on Saturday afternoon of Cherry Weekend. We've missed you and are of course sad we can't be together this year, but we will all be back in 2022.! Finally, thank you to anyone who has been a part of this journey with me the last 20 plus years! I love you so much! xo NEW PODCAST!
Listen now for FREE on iTunes, SoundCloud, Amazon, Google & more! https://hypeddit.com/link/y8yl9f We did it! I am so excited to post my DJ set from the The Winter Party live stream on March 6. We start with an epic new remix of “Paradise” by Leanh, performed by Meduza. The music intensely builds up to my new remix of John Legend’s instant singalong “Conversations in the Dark,” closing with a few of our now classic faves. With many personal new edits and mashups mixed with current favorite tracks - and a few surprises - this podcast is one of my absolute favorite mixes. Thank you so much to everyone who watched, and the entire Team at the Winter Party festival for producing this spectacular online event. Gauthreaux closes out Winter Party Festival's first virtual livestream on March 6, 2021.
I’ve noticed through the years that my themed podcasts get the most plays. From the Pride editions, or the Winter Party classic set, mixes that zoom in on a specific vibe or emotion get more plays than others. I’ve been looking for a way to do more of them that would not only excite me, but be different. I've seen a lot, as 2021 is the 25th Anniversary of my DJ career (First legit set: Happy hour, Oz, New Orleans, August 1996). I can’t think of a better time to announce my first podcast series, FEEL.
Depending on what you read, there are anywhere between 5 (according to Darwin) to about 30 feelings we call “emotions” in the modern day. After many nights sleeping on this idea, and even more days exploring my virtual crates, I settled on these emotions to make up FEEL's six episodes for 2021: Happy, Helpless, Euphoria, Lust, Nostalgia and of course Pride. I’ve felt all these emotions intensely many times. Felt some of them while creating this series. :) First episode "Feel Happy," is out now everywhere, with "Helpless" out in April. All the links you need to start listening ;) https://hypeddit.com/link/xj9x4u In the meantime you won't be without new music - my set from the Winter party livestream will be available as a podcast soon after Saturday's steam. That's all for now hope you enjoy - and are - Happy - joe |
